As referred to the last post, we have just returned from an incredible experience in the Middle East and India! What a life-changing experience it was to be immersed in the world of the leprosy affected people of southern India. We stayed in a beautiful new hostile just finished to house volunteers who come to help with the leprosy affected and their children and grandchildren. In the past, children and grandchildren of those who have had leprosy are shunned, outcasts, untouchables! Wonderful Becky Douglas is changing all that with an organization she created called Rising Star Outreach.

When most of us come face to face with poverty and injustice, we just wring our hands, sometimes lay awake nights worrying and wishing that we could help. Amazing Becky Douglas changed all that. After her visit to India, she actually did something about it! She went home and rallied friends, neighbors, anyone who would listen and after years of dedication and hard work as well as substantial donations she has created a wonderful little school for kids who have leprosy affected families.
We had the pleasure of being with these gorgeous children and visiting the leprosy colonies for several days at the end of our journey. We joined our son Talmadge and Anita, our newly married couple who are on a nine month humanitarian honeymoon and our youngest daughter Charity and her two dear friends Dani and Sara. they had the time of their lives teaching the 180 kids in the school. They were literally mobbed by kids 24/7!
Since a portion of the dues for Valuesparenting go to our public charity designed to help families, especially in third world countries we thought you’d enjoy seeing this fun video prepared by Rachel Christensen who is there with her husband and four small children, helping full-time with this truly amazing project. A generous contributor bought new shoes for all the kids. We think you’ll fall in love with the kids as you watch the delight in their new shoes!
